At Glenfarclas we make our whisky the traditional way, with passion, patience and pride. Many believe whisky making is an art, and it is, but it’s also a science. Without knowledge and experience and without the right people, the magic simply won’t happen.
DIRECT FIRING, UNIQUELY GLENFARCLAS
We are now the only distillery in Scotland whose stills are solely direct fired. Tradition is important, but more important is taste and direct firing is intrinsic to the character and taste of our whisky.
We believe that making great whisky starts with doing things the right way.
QUALITY INGREDIENTS
The finest malted barley, pure water from our own spring and our unique yeast strain
TRADITIONAL METHODS
We do things the traditional way and never rush the process, from mashing to maturation
DIRECT FIRED STILLS
We distill every drop twice in our direct fired stills, the traditional Speyside way
TIME & PATIENCE
We mature our whisky in European oak casks personally chosen from a Oloroso bodego in Spain
FROM OUR STILL TO YOUR GLASS
Every drop of Glenfarclas is crafted with care and attention to detail. We take pride in every step of the process to ensure the highest quality Single Malt Scotch Whisky.
We take water from a spring that rises on Ben Rinnes and flows directly to our distillery in the glen below. Our water is soft, natural and free flowing.
SELECTED SHERRY CASKS
Glenfarclas is aged in Oloroso sherry casks, hand picked from a family run bodega in Spain. This European oak is an essential element of Glenfarclas and great care is taken in their selection and management.
Behind our famous red doors lies what some believe is one of the secrets of Glenfarclas; our dunnage warehouses. Built with natural stone and slate roofed, they’re low lying and damp, and this makes them perfect for ageing whisky.
Direct firing, sherry casks and dunnage warehouses. Without the fortuitous alliance of this holy trinity our whisky would differ in some regard; it might be fine but it would not be Glenfarclas.
